Effective SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategies can make a site more crawl able. Search engine optimization is simply means what a user is search on search engines and where our web links appear on search engines. Its a fight between a user search query and your web rank on search networks.

So if you want to appear on top on search results you have to follow "White Hat SEO" techniques, which can make your site more visible to search user as well as web crawlers (spiders). Good SEO is also means good marketing, well defined marketing techniques, thinking about creative ways to make a site more compelling. The result of making a good website is to improve awareness of that site on the web.

The opposite of "white hat seo" is something called "black hat web spam" a few sites use techniques that don’t benefit users, where the intent is to look for shortcuts or loopholes that would rank pages higher than they deserve to be ranked. Search Engines (Google) see all sorts of web spam techniques every day, from keyword stuffing to link schemes that attempt to propel sites higher in rankings.

The goal of many of Google ranking changes is to help searchers find sites that provide a great user experience and fulfill their information needs. Search Engines also want  great sites for users, not just algorithms, to see their effort rewarded.

The sites that link to you can provide context about the subject matter of your site, and can indicate its quality and popularity.

The following are examples of link schemes which can negatively impact a site's ranking in search results:

  • Linking to web spammers or unrelated sites with the intent to manipulate PageRank
  • Building partner pages exclusively for the sake of cross-linking
  • Using automated programs or services to create links to your site.

Here are a few common examples of unnatural links that violate Google guidelines:
  • Text advertisements that pass Page Rank

  • Links that are inserted into articles with little coherence, for example:

  • Low-quality directory or bookmark site links.

  • Links embedded in widgets that are distributed across various sites, for example:

 The best way to get other sites to create relevant links to yours is to create unique, relevant content that can quickly gain popularity in the Internet community. The more useful content you have, the greater the chances someone else will find that content valuable to their readers and link to it.

It is not only the number of links you have pointing to your site that matters, but also the quality and relevance of those links. .
